Kristiansund welcomes you to Norway’s first and most adventurous cruise port…

Minimize

The first commercial cruise on the Norwegian coast started in the Port of Kristiansund July 25th 1875! Cook’s Travel Agency took good care of their first passengers from Kristiansund up to Nordkapp (North Cape) and the Midnight Sun.

More than 130 years later, in 2006, Kristiansund opened their new ISPS approved cruise quay of totally 366 meters. The quay is dimensioned to allow safe berthing of the biggest cruise ships in operation world-wide to day. When the ship is safely moored the passengers are free to enter directly into the shopping centre (more than 50 shops) located alongside the quay. But, of course, you have the possibility to stroll along the quayside, experience the city centre or join for a short speed-boat trip to Grip. In 2000, the islet Grip, with its lighthouse, became protected as a cultural heritage site. Grip was Norway’s smallest municipality until 1964, and is now a part of Kristiansund municipality.

All passenger safety aspects are taken well care of when disembarking/embarking inside the ISPS protection fence, and the quay allows good parking possibilities for buses close to the ship.
As Mid-Norway’s main offshore service terminal for gas- and petroleum activities, Kristiansund can offer a complete range of service activities.

Kristiansund and the 10 surrounding municipalities in the port region will position themselves as Fjord Norway’s most experienced cruise ports and destinations. We have been in the business for more than 130 years!
